The Baja 1000. The most iconic, brutal off-road race in the world. I heard it described once as a 24 hour plane crash, and after living it, I would agree! Is it as technical as rock crawling? No but you’re not crawling, you’re hauling a$$ across the desert on trails full of boulders, cacti, spectators, random traffic and donkeys. Not to mention there are locals who think its awesome to set booby traps on the course just to watch you crash, but don’t worry they’ll be right there to help you fix your truck when you do! You also just might have to contend with thieves and robbers who want to steal your truck, tools, cash and chase vehicle. It truly is the wild wild west! Here’s our last experience at the 1000, didn’t end the way we wanted but I’d do it again in a heartbeat, in fact, we’re going this year, 2023 for the first ever northward bound peninsula run!
